A fun project conducted in Palo Alto and Helsinki with 16 subjects about experience sharing practices.
The learning: although many mothers have no social media presence, it does not mean they would not like to share their daily experience with family and friends.
The study relied on a multimodal prototype that allowed subjects to collect various pieces of information from their daily life and share them in a coherent format. The study was implemented as a Wizard-of-Oz experiment, allowing the user to use freely different interaction modalities (speech and gesture). A valuable amount of data has been collected about what subjects would like to share, how, in what combination, and how they prefer to interact with the data, what modalities they want to use, how to combine them, etc.
